What was the name of a 90’s comic series whose main male character was dressed in a purple jester/clown suit?

There was a comic book I read occasionally as a kid, and one of its main characters was usually dressed in a purplish clown or jester costume. I cannot remember what his name is or what the comics were called. I was not able to find anything in comic book databases either. Does anyone know?

Astro City featured a character called Jack-In-the-Box who looks like your description. The series, written by Kurt Busiek and drawn by Brent Anderson (with awesome Alex Ross covers), usually did a few issues about one charcter, then moved on to another hero from the City.
