Daredevil Comic

We have read them, throughout the years and have followed them like a cult following and even now as they create more films with our favorite characters we can’t help but buy the DVD. Marvel comic books have been around for a long time and have entertained us as kids and still do for most people as adults too. Who can even forget the famous words of the Hulk “smash em” or “Hulk Smash” which usually where the only words he spoke and of course “my spider senses are tingling” which was what Peter Parker, who is basically Spiderman would say when he felt trouble was on the way.

Over the years the way the comics were changed and infact they can now be downloaded from internet or read online, which now takes comic books even further than they could get before, and they are now reaching people who had never heard of Daredevil or Electra nor read about them.

The Marvel Comic Books have through the years changed with different artist taking over the helm of drawing the character according to the original only with their design, making also the theme of the comic books change. The new ones have even changed the outfits with Wolverine’s tight yellow spandex suit being replaced with leather black and blue. The story has also changed with the times and the presidents that have come and gone as well as the disasters that have happened.

Even with all the changes that has gone on all over the world we still see fit too look for a comic store so as to see what is new in the life of Spidey, X men, Fantastic Four and many other characters that have been portrayed in the Marvel Comic Books.

how do you make very good reviews over comic books?

(if is possible, some sites would be really helpful, if not, just tell me)

I don’t know about reviews. But if you really want to advertise that book, you must do it by word of mouth!

Wonder Woman Comic

Wonder Woman Comic

Nominated for a single Emmy in its short three season stint, Wonder Woman – which premiered in 1976 – was the third attempt by the major networks to bring the popular comic book character to TV. Created as the result of a collaboration between the multi-talented William M. Marston and DC Comics publisher Maxwell Gaines, Wonder Woman made her world premiere in a 1941 comic book. The final product of Gaines’ request for a female comic book hero, Marston never lived to see his creation become a television star (he died prematurely from skin cancer in 1947), but his legacy lives on through the Wonder Woman franchise which continues to entertain worldwide audiences to this day…

Wonder Woman follows the exploits of the Amazonian princess, Diana, who leaves her Paradise Island home in order to bring justice to the world of men. Athletic and intelligent, Diana Prince (as she’s known to the outside world) also possesses special powers that are brought about when she whirls around to transform into Wonder Woman. Her magic belt gives her added strength, her metallic bracelets deflect bullets, and her tiara doubles as a boomerang… In addition, she’s aided by a magic golden lasso which forces her captives to tell the truth! Season 1 of Wonder Woman takes place during the era of World War II where the Allies enlist the help of the female superhero to defeat the Nazis, while Seasons 2 and 3 take place in modern day times (1977-1978)…

The Wonder Woman DVD features a number of exciting episodes including the series premiere “Wonder Woman Meets Baroness Von Gunther” in which Col. Steve Trevor – the same man who crash-landed on Wonder Woman’s home island, and thus prompted her to enter the world of men – is accused of sabotaging a series of missions under his command. Charged with treason and espionage, Trevor can only have his name cleared by Wonder Woman who uncovers a vast conspiracy by Nazi sympathizers… Other notable episodes from Season 1 include “The Pluto File” in which Wonder Woman must apprehend an Irish-born spy who steals an American-made machine that controls earthquakes, and “Formula 407″ in which Wonder Woman travels to Mexico in order to recover a secret formula stolen by the Nazis…

Collecting comic books is a source of joy for many comic book and graphic novel enthusiasts.  However, many collectors have trouble finding comics that they feel would be worth collecting and don’t really know what to do with them when they do.  There are a number of ways that collectors and comic enthusiasts can find out where to buy, sell and trade collectible comics and other memorabilia.

You can find comic books and other collectable memorabilia in a number of places.  Comic conventions are an excellent way to find collectible comics, meet comic insiders and hear the latest comic industry news.  One of the best places to find comic books is on the internet.  You can find people selling comic books on different websites all over the web.  One way to find comic books is in an online market place such as Amazon.com.  Ebay is one of the most popular places on the net to find auctions for collectible comic books.  Not only can you bid and buy comics but you can also sell your comic books through Ebay as well.  Another place to find comics is from an online comic book store such as Things From Another World or SuperHeroStuff.com.

You can also find collectible comic books online in comic collecting forums.  One of the sites that I would recommend is Planet Bugle (www.planetbugle.com).  Planet Bugle provides a comic forum, a comic wiki, comic news, comic collecting faq’s and other information on collecting comic books and more.  Comic forums and message boards allow you to connect with other collectors who are selling, buying and trading comic and can provide you with information and insight on collecting comic books.

As you start to accumulate more and more comic you will need to find ways to keep track of your comic book collection.  One effective method is to use a database software such as Collectorz.com’s Comic Collector.  This will allow you to catalog your comic collection automatically.

Good online comic book store in Canada?

Which is a trustworthy good online comic book store in Canad? I don’t want to be paying extra fees. Thanks! Don’t tell me to go to a store, book stores are far away from me.

If it’s mainly graphic novels you’re looking for amazon.ca is probably one of the fastest and cheapest routes to go.

If you’re looking for actual online comic stores in Canada you could start with these two:

Need help for comic, list of python predators?

I’m doing a wild-west comic and my main character’s alias is ‘Python’. I want to make the bad guy named after a predator of the python. Can anyone make me a list of python predators? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hawk or Eagle. It’s mostly the large birds of prey that eat snakes.

Or Mongoose, but that sounds kind of lame.

Marvel Comic

While sidekicks in marvel comics aren’t a common theme, there have been some over the years, though they are few and far between. Unlike dc comics and other comic companies, marvel has largely frowned on child sidekicks, but early on that wasn’t the case.

One of the most famous sidekicks in marvel comics was Bucky, the partner of Captain America during World War II. When Bucky was supposedly killed, Captain America vowed never to bring a youth into that situation again. Bucky would of course come back to life as many dead comic characters do, thus ruining an old staple (the only characters in comics that stay dead are Bucky, Uncle Ben and Barry Allen, two of which have been revived so far). Bucky came back in the guise of the Winter Soldier, but he was no longer one of the sidekicks in marvel comics, but rather his own character and the bearer of the Captain America mantle after Cap’s recent death.

Rick Jones has to be the most prolific of the sidekicks in marvel comics having been a sidekick for several heroes, and a superhero in his own right at times. His very first appearance saw him play sidekick to the Incredible Hulk in the Hulk’s first issue, thus cementing Jones as one of the most famous sidekicks in marvel comics. He then became somewhat of a sidekick to Captain America, though Cap, newly revived after being frozen in ice, resisted as his stance on sidekicks in marvel comics remained unchanged. Jones even took up the “Bucky” mantle for a while. Jones then became attached to Captain Marvel, and was connected to him on another level after putting on the Nega-Bands. He would return to the Hulk’s side for a time, and later on he wrote a book on being one of the sidekicks in marvel comics.

More recently there has been a new group of sidekicks in marvel comics, even though they aren’t technically sidekicks. The Young Avengers, written by TV writer Allan Heinburg, are a group of fledgling superheroes who first donned similar costumes to the famous Avengers. There was Patriot, Hulkling, Iron Lad and Wiccan, each mimicking various Avengers. Once Captain America learned of their existence he tried to stop them as his stance on sidekicks in marvel comics still remained unchanged. But the team would continue on and adding new members including a girl taking on the name of an Avenger, Hawkeye. They have fought alongside the Avengers, and played a role in Civil War and Secret Invasion. These kids may not be proper sidekicks in marvel comics, but they are still considered sidekicks nevertheless.

Though the landscape of the universe will probably never completely welcome sidekicks in marvel comics, there will always be exceptions and instances where they will exist and sometimes thrive.

Given the buzz that now surrounds her performance in Precious, Mo’Nique made the right decision. But her enthusiasm for the role of Mary Jones, the abusive mother of an overweight New York teenager, was tempered by the need to draw on traumatic events from her private life.

“Lee Daniels said to me, ‘Bitch, how do you make me hate you and feel sorry for you at the same time?’ ” she remembers. The answer lay in her own experiences growing up in Baltimore County, Md.

“I was molested,” she says, referring to a family member. “I won’t say I’m a victim, because to me that means I’m carrying it with me. But it happened in my life, and I don’t wish that on anybody. It started when I was about 7 years old and went on for a few years.”

Mo’Nique draws on a reservoir of emotion that might surprise those who know her best as the flamboyant comedienne who has starred on TV series like “The Parkers.”

But when she came to shoot, she didn’t dwell on it. “When it’s done, it’s done,” she says. “We never looked at dailies, we never went back over it. Everybody asked, ‘How do you know what to do?’ Well, I trust Lee Daniels and he trusts his actors. Some people, you’d be like, ‘Wait a minute, sugar!’ Not one time did I ever say, ‘Wait a minute, Lee, I don’t see this character like that.’”

She adds of characters like Mary, “You see them as monsters. You want to judge them and walk away saying, ‘I hated that person.’ But I don’t hate Mary Jones. I’m sad for Mary Jones. Mary Jones is mentally ill, has spent her life being sick, but nobody ever paid attention — including Mary Jones.”

In her own life, Mo’Nique has found love with her husband of three years, Sidney Hicks, whom she has known since adolescence. Twice divorced before that, she is also the mother of young twins.

She still finds time for a career in comedy, having delivered her first public performance during an open mike night at Baltimore’s Comedy Factory in 1991. She was able to leave work — including a job as supervisor at a phone-sex company — and pursue her craft full time.

Appearances on “Showtime at the Apollo” and HBO’s “Def Comedy Jam” followed. Mo’Nique also opened an eponymous comedy club in Baltimore and played the Montreal Comedy Festival.

Then came a five-year, award-winning run on UPN’s “The Parkers” and appearances in such movies as “Phat Girlz” and “Soul Plane.”

Did she worry about alienating her comedy audience when she did “Precious”? “No,” she says. “I trust that they recognize this is entertainment, this is acting. They won’t say, ‘Oh, we can’t imagine Mo’Nique doing anything that doesn’t make me laugh.’ “

Daniels had previously cast Mo’Nique in his debut movie, “Shadowboxer,” as the drug-addicted girlfriend of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character, so he was confident of her acting abilities.

Now she intends to continue pursuing dramatic roles. “They keep telling me I’m an actress; I keep telling them I’m a stand-up comedian; they keep giving me these parts. I’m like, ‘For real? OK!’”

One project has particular personal resonance. “I own the rights to (Oscar-winning “Gone with the Wind” co-star) Hattie McDaniel’s life story, and I can’t wait to tell that story, because that woman was absolutely amazing. She had to stand up to the adversity of black and white (society) at a time when we really weren’t accepted. Mr. Lee Daniels is going to direct it, of course, and I’m going to be Miss Hattie McDaniel. I really hope I can do that woman justice.”

Comedy remains Mo’Nique’s professional priority, and she recently started a late-night talk show for BET.

“I love to get on that stage, honey, and make you laugh until you pee on yourself,” she exclaims. “That’s my baby. I will never stop stand-up. I will be 97 years old, with two teeth and maybe a bit of hair, and I will be on that stage hoping they’re having as much (fun) as I’m having.”

Captain America Comic

Captain America Comic

Slot machines are the most popular form of casino entertainment, both at land-based and online casinos. Charles Fey, an enterprising American, invented the first slot machine in 1898. His “Liberty Bell” was a three-reel slot that is considered to be the forerunner of all modern slot machines. Online slots began as classic three-reel games that could be played with one to three coins. Today, online slot machines can have three, five, or seven reels and as many as 100 pay-lines. Probably the most popular type of online slot is a 5-reel video game with multiple pay-lines.

This article summarizes Captain America, a 5-reel video slot from Wager Logic software.

Captain America is a 5-reel, 25 pay-line video slot about Marvel comics. It accepts coins from 1¢ to $5.00, and the maximum number of coins that you can bet per spin is 25 ($125). Captain America comes with wilds, scatters, 15 free spins, 24 winning combinations, a top jackpot of 12,500 coins, and a second jackpot of 5,000 coins.

Symbols on the reels include Captain America Logo, American Flag, Test Tube, and Army Helmet.

Not all online casinos accept players from the USA. This includes all Microgaming, Boss Media, and Play Tech casinos. However, all of these online casinos from Real Time Gaming welcome USA players: Rushmore, Slots Oasis, Cherry Red, Slots Plus, Vegas Casino Online, Las Vegas USA, All Star Slots, Club USA, Lucky Red, and Aladdin’s Palace.

So there you have it, a summary of Captain America, a 5-reel video slot machine. Whether you play slot machines in Las Vegas or at your favorite online casino, gamble only with the money you can afford to lose. Budget your money, and never gamble when you are tired or irritable. Lastly, have fun and quit while you are ahead.

Is the new Captain America Bucky Barnes? He died during WWII. What did I miss?

Captain America was my favorite comic book. I stopped collecting 12 years ago. I heard he was killed about a year ago. I just picked up the latest issue. Is that Nomad or Bucky as the new Captain America?

Yes, the new Cap is indeed Bucky. He was brought back in this latest run of Captain America by the talented Mr. Ed Brubaker.
In this story, Bucky didn’t die like believed. Instead when the drone plane was blown up his arm was tore off but the icy waters of the Atlantic preserved him (like it did Cap) until the Russians found him.
They took him, made him a new robotic arm and then brainwashed him into becoming the Winter Soldier. In between jobs they kept him in stasis since he sometimes escaped from them. When his current controller, Alexander Lukin brought him back to gain revenge on Cap and it was finally revealed who he was, Cap finally got threw to him. They never made peace face to face but after Cap’s death, he sent a letter to Stark asking him to find and save Bucky and not to let the legacy of Captain America die. So, after some fighting, and other drama that’s basically how he became the new Cap.
I suggest you look on wikipedia.com for the full story.

The first Saturday in May is the official day for comic books. What is so great about this day is that comic books are given away for free. For the past seven years, participating stores have been giving out free comics; but only on this one Saturday a year. The purpose behind this day is to promote comics to kids. To keep the industry alive, we need the newest generations getting hooked on comics. Kids as young as two and three years old become interested in comics, even though they can’t read, because they are familiar with the action hero figures. More than likely, most kids have a superman or batman action figure and they can relate to the comics from looking at the pictures.

The comics given out are special issues. They are printed especially for Free Comic Book Day. They are printed differently than normal comics, and they don’t have a barcode on them. Also, most of the comic books handed out have Free Comic Book Day printed somewhere on the cover. At one store participating in the event, they have more than ten different comics to choose from that will be given out for free. This is made possible because each major comic publisher produces a free edition comic. For a comic book enthusiast, this once a year even is like Christmas for them. As many as twelve million comic books will be given out on Saturday.

William Shatner, one of the most memorable Star Trek actors, is taking part in the event. He has plans to announce the release of his own comic book series. He will be doing a comic book signing at a store in Los Angeles where they will be giving out free comics. William Shatner partnered with Bluewater Productions to create a 32 page comic to be given away for free in support of Free Comic Book Day. His series of science fiction comics is called Tek War, and the free comic given out is a prologue to the issue. Hugh Jackman, leading actor in the X-men series, is also promoting Free Comic Book Day. He is starring in the new release X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He believes that comics have the power to get kids to read. They are playing a large part in fighting illiteracy in our country.

Without comic book retailers, this world wide event wouldn’t be possible. They pay anywhere from 12 to 50 cents for each free edition comic book, and give them out to free for anyone who walks through their store.
