Is it extremely rare during the software lifecycle to jettison most of the automated test tools, and then…?

claim there are few faults in the supposedly “enhanced” system.

Or would this only happen in a Dilbert comic ?

What about if it’s “safety-critical” software ?
Surely no one would do it then.

It is not extremely rare for automated tools to be abandoned during software testing due to the limitations inherent with them. It would be extemely rare for the shortfall to be not covered off by manual testing. Most all software is ‘mission critical’ these days and the effort and investment in the testing component of the software development lifecycle reflects this…

Photoshop has become the standard of the industry when it comes to graphics and digital image editing. When we speak of power, versatility and innovation, very few programs can hold a candle to what Photoshop is capable of doing. Its commands and tools are so easy to learn that even beginners can use this program without the benefit of a formal class.

Photoshop (also known as Adobe Photoshop) was created by Adobe Systems and was intended at first for image editing for paper printing. It wasn’t too long before it was used to create and edit images to use for websites.

The best thing about Photoshop is not only the integrated tools and devices you can use to tweak images and create your own, but because of the flawless interaction of its commands and tools. Given one image, you can do virtually anything you want with the confidence that Photoshop tools will follow your command and produce an edited picture the way you want it to appear.

Export-ready
When it comes to exporting its images, Photoshop allows seamless program shifts among other Adobe software used in image editing, authoring and animation such as Adobe Illustrator, ImageReady and After Effects. Photoshop files (.PSD or Photoshop document format) may be manipulated to produce special effects such as adding textures and changing backgrounds. Non-linear editing is also a breeze.

Another advantage of Photoshop is that it can work with several color models such as RGB, CMYK, Lab, Bitmap, Duotone and Grayscale. This allows any user a lot of flexibility in terms of image editing, giving him the power to play with every type of photo image there is.

The newest version of Photoshop is v. 10, also known as CS3. It’s integrated with Adobe Creative Suite, hence the ‘CS’. The most popular, though is the CS2 which was made available in 2005. It has successfully integrated new tools and former plugins like color replacement, warping and multiple-layer select.

How it has changed the industry
When it comes to image post-production, Photoshop has given professionals and amateurs a magic wand with which to alter and improve images. Since the advent of digital photography in the 90s, Photoshop has been the standard with which photographers improve finished photo quality.

Photoshop is also changing the art scene, allowing artists to create original pieces or artwork using program tools. Photoshop artwork has appeared in books, comic books, architecture designs and more notably, in special-effect films.

Photoshop has become so popular that the word ‘photoshopping’ has already ingrained itself in our vocabulary. Photoshopping has actually made careers, fed media frenzy, made paparazzis happy and changed the way we see things, often literally. In pop culture, Photoshop in becomingly increasingly prevalent, appearing in almost every other photo for image-hungry consumers to devour. The irony is, Photoshop is so popular that images have to appear that they haven’t undergone tweaking in order to be declared as Photoshop-perfect.

Cracking the Photoshop Easter eggs
As with some of the most popular software, Photoshop comes with a few Easter eggs, hidden gems of humor and help tips that can be accessed with a few strokes of the keyboard. The first ones came with Photoshop v. 2.5 and subsequent Easter eggs have appeared with every version that came along. The latest Easter eggs are with the CS2 (the Adobe SpaceMonkey) and CS3 (the Adobe Red Pill).

Photoshop may be used by Microsoft Windows, Mac OS and Mac OS X. Linux users can use Photoshop v. 9 and lower.

Once you set up learning a new language, you’ll have to pass through several steps, such as building a basic vocabulary, learning the new grammar and so forth. Most language enthusiasts and polyglots agree that this is the hardest part of the language learning process, since you have nothing to build your knowledge upon. The following tips and tricks assume that you’ve already passed these hard times and have moderate control over your new language and want to improve it or improve certain parts of it such as pronunciation, spelling and so on.

Get Constant Language Exposure

This is extremely important in the latter stages of your language learning process. Try exposing yourself to the new language as much as possible. For example, if you’re on a journey to learn Spanish, watch Spanish TV channels, listen to Spanish radio, Spanish music, read Spanish newspapers, comics, books and so on. Obviously, other languages might be harder to get exposure to than Spanish, but try and get everything you can.

If you have a supportive friend or family member that already knows the language you’re trying to learn, ask him if you could (seriously) talk in that language during your normal conversations. It might sound silly at first, but it’s very effective and after the “LOL we’re talking a foreign language in our own house” comedy passes away, you’ll be left with some good practice.

Language exposure isn’t just a means to test yourself. It’s also an incredible exercise for your pronunciation and vocabulary. It will also be easier for you to make yourself understood and at the same time, understand what the others are talking to you. If you can, try visiting the (a) country where the language you’re trying to learn is the native language. Even a 1 week stay there will do wonders to your foreign language skills. Being surrounding by nothing other than that language, forcing you to handle yourself using it is an intense exercise that will prove enormously helpful.

Learn and Practice Using Various Sources

I really don’t like the idea of learning a language from a single book course, online lesson bundle and so forth. I think if you want to cover up the entire complexity of the language you’re trying to learn, than you need to do so from several sources and through various methods. This will also add up some diversity to your language learning process and take the boredom and frustration away (boredom and frustration are two of the main reasons people quit in the middle of learning a new language). Here are a couple of methods that you can use to improve your learning process:

- Free language lessons online – The Internet is a wonderful place for language enthusiasts and polyglots. Although language learning sites were on the web early on, it’s only recently that they have become so efficient, with newer web browsers allowing interactivity.
- Playing educational games – These games are always fun, regardless of your age. However, they mostly work in the earlier stages of your language lessons.
- Flashcards – One of the best ways to improve vocabulary and memorize words is through the use of flashcards. If you can buy them that’s great, but if you can spare some time, try making them yourself.
- Translations – Translated texts (that can be compared to the original of course) can prove to be very useful, because you can see how grammar rules differ from your native language to the ones of the language you’re learning at the moment. They can also clear up some vocabulary issues, since you’ll see how words are being used figurately. But don’t rely on translations alone, since they can be misleading sometimes, since there are certain structures or even words that can’t be translated accurately, so the author of the translation probably replaced them with something having the same meaning.

Don’t let Your Foreign Language Rot

Even if you manage to become fluent in the foreign language you were studying, you’ll need to keep practicing if you want to be able to use it in the future. Otherwise, it will simply fade away and after a while you’ll have trouble remembering basic structures, you’ll lose your hard-earned pronunciation skills and so forth.

That’s about it folks, if you follow these tips and if you have a little ambition, then that language should be grasped faster than you can say “I’m a polyglot”. Well not really, it will still take a while to become fluent in any new language (at least 4 to 6 months), but it will still be faster than those year long courses that you take and end up not knowing how to say hello in the foreign language you’ve studied.

Thor Comic
What’s the title of the comic when superheroes team up–like when Superman meets Batman and Spiderman?

What are the titles of these comics when superheroes gather together. There’s a new movie coming out called Avengers which is like when Iron Man meets Captain America and Thor

Where to start?

You ask about Superman, Batman and Spiderman.

Superman and Batman are DC Comics properties. Spiderman is a Marvel Comics property, as are Iron Man, Captain America and Thor.

Generally these companies don’t use each other’s characters except under special circumstances. There are laws against that sort of thing.

In the DC Comics universe, there are plenty of team up comics, including The Brave and The Bold (Which was usually Batman and a different hero each month), The Justice League (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and a bunch of others), The Justice Society (Vintage heroes like the original Green Lantern and the original Flash and more), Teen Titans, The Outsiders, World’s Finest, Batman Family, Superman Family, The New Gods and more.

Marvel has a similar stable of team themed titles like The Avengers, X-men, X-Factor, The Runaways, The Fantastic Four, The Inhumans, The Immortals and others.

Occasionally, DC and Marvel get together and team up popular characters in a single publication. For example, Spiderman and Superman met in the 70’s (that was probably the first “crossover” ever), Batman has met The Punisher, Spiderman and Wolverine, Green Lantern met the Silver Surfer and so on. Google “Marvel, DC, crossover titles” and you’ll find more info.

Not long ago, the two companies did an epic “Marvel Vs. DC” series that pitted popular characters from each universe in battle against each other to see which universe would ulitimately survive. Naturally, neither universe was destroyed, but the two companies created a combined label they called “AMALGAM” which published issues of comics with characters created by combining DC and Marvel heroes and villains. So, Batman and Wolverine combined to become “Dark Claw”, Superman and Captain America became “Supersoldier” and so on. Single issues of various titles were published, mostly as a gag, since they generally ended with a cliffhanger and no issue beyond number one was ever published.

So there isn’t any single title for a comic like you describe, but with 50 years of comics published and available both on paper and digitally, you can certainly find lots of team ups!

Stuart Townsend Booted from ‘Thor’
Thunder! Drama is already brewing on the set of “Thor”! Actor Stuart Townsend has been replaced by Joshua Dallas in the film adaptation of the comic book.

Hasan Yahya

Be aware of Girls? They smile at you, You think they like you

They fool you with a smile, And you smile too. When you discover, How much fool You are?

It’s late too! (End of poem)

In the university  campus girls are everywhere, anytime, day or night, for those who come from far away lands, who rarely see a true woman with open holes pants, or half naked. Openness of these beautiful girls encourage young people like my friend, he was 24 years old, to establish a relationship with them. Everyday you meet tens of beautiful girls, you wish not only to talk with, but farther than that, to sleep with. When he made a crush over a girl, she becomes smart to reject him. But she did not tell him in his face, that he is rushing in relationships, and she would rather, have him stop there to bather her any more. What does she do?

She gives you a telephone number to call and begin your journey with her. But she fooled him,  and he doesn’t know, so he called her in the evening, he was surprised to hear that the other end on telephone, had never heard of him, and this number is wrong number to call. He is naïve enough not to think of the scam. Later after two other times, he discovered what he did not know about girls. The idea, that these girls know very well how to fool annoying young men like my friend, by giving them a telephone number, yes, but a number of somebody else. What was the name of a 90’s comic series whose main male character was dressed in a purple jester/clown suit?

There was a comic book I read occasionally as a kid, and one of its main characters was usually dressed in a purplish clown or jester costume. I cannot remember what his name is or what the comics were called. I was not able to find anything in comic book databases either. Does anyone know?

Astro City featured a character called Jack-In-the-Box who looks like your description. The series, written by Kurt Busiek and drawn by Brent Anderson (with awesome Alex Ross covers), usually did a few issues about one charcter, then moved on to another hero from the City. It came out in the 1996-97 time period — maybe this is who you’re looking for?

Love Comics

I don’t know if you feel the same about comic books like I do, but one thing is for sure, I have held on to my first ever comic book for a very long time and I believe now it will probably cost you quite a penny especially since it is mint condition and it is a first series. When shopping for a comic book it is good to learn all you can on that comic especially if it is the rare or hard to find kind.

Apart from superheroes I have always loved comics like Archie, Jughead and the rest of the gang. I was also a big fan Josie and the pussycats and off course the DC comic’s collection as well as Marvel comics. Many people do not know the value of their comic books and how much they can get for them if they have kept them in prime condition. In fact most time people just leave their comics lying around in their homes without ever thinking that if they needed another one and had kept the one they had in good condition they would be able to trade it in for another. This kind of trade is offered by several comic book stores.

The older your comic the more value it has and the more care you have to give it especially if it is a first edition or a very rare copy. Many a times you will find such comics in auctions or if you really want to luck out look for yard sales where people are moving out because you will find people are either selling their comic book collection at a very low price or giving them away for free. Always have them appraised.

Marvel Comic Books

We love how different posters look with their glossy covering and brightly colored pictures. While there are many different posters you can buy some of the best ones will feature fantasy, science fiction, and comic book characters. Of the many comic book posters the Marvel posters are really nice.

These Marvel posters show the various characters of the Marvel universe in many of their original costumes. There are some Marvel posters where the costumes will show the new looks or themes of certain costumes but you can still identify the character in the poster. These posters can be seen in glossy format, matt look and some of the posters will feature a cartoon type of look.

The various coverings of the posters don’t detract from their appeal however as sometimes you can feel the action that is happening on the Marvel posters as a result of this covering look. You will be able to buy posters of your favorite superheroes and villains in poses that are very reminiscent of the comic books where you may have seen them first.

The various Marvel posters have characters like Spiderman, the X-Men, Ghost Rider, the Annihilator and many other Marvel comic book characters. You will be able to find Marvel posters in different sizes. The smallest Marvel posters will probably be about 6 inches by 8 inches and the largest 20 inches by 55 inches.

These sizes will of course depend on the place where you will be buying your Marvel posters. In many cases you will be able to look for these various Marvel posters in toys stores in the sections where they have other posters for sale.

At other times you can try your neighborhood comic book store to see if they have any Marvel posters in stock. The other really good place to look for Marvel posters is from the various posters stores that can be found in some malls.

You also have the option of buying your Marvel posters from different sites on the internet. The prices may sometimes be little expensive you do have a wider selection choice with the internet buying option. You may want to look at all of the options – internet, toy stores, poster shops, and comic stores – that you have before you make any final choices.

This way you will have a chance to think carefully about the types of Marvel posters that you want to purchase. When you have made your choice of size, format look – matt, glossy or cartoon style – and Marvel characters all that is needed is for you to wait until you have your new Marvel posters back home and find a great place to showcase them.

Kids Comics

Spiderman comics have always been on high demand because they are not only bought by children but also by adults who probably read them when they were kids as well.  Spiderman comics are a Marvel Comic original that made its debut in 1962 and was written and created by Stan lee and Steve Dikto.

In his first appearance in Marvel Comics Spiderman made his debut in a guest appearance spot, but would later have his own comic line. The Spiderman character real name is Peter Parker a quite and unsure fellow, who after he is bitten by a spider which had been used for experiments, which means basically the spider had been given different gene’s that made it stronger, faster and could sense danger when it was near and this what transferred into the young Peter Parker and transformed him to his alter ego the wise cracking, web sling Spiderman.

Spiderman comics became a big hit with the kids as well as with adults and this spun into two cartoons. One cartoon was about Spidey on his own and the other was him and iceman and was called the double duo, which actually was also a comic book. The cartoons then lead to a Spiderman movie which would later be remade in early 2000 into the Spiderman movies which we have come to love. Spiderman also shares the scene with other characters like Mary Jane Watson who is Peter Parkers love interest, then there his Aunt and off course the bad guys like the green goblin and Dr. Doom as well as Doc Octopus. The suit of Spiderman has always been red and blue but there was a time the suit changed to black in 1984 when an alien material or matter attached itself to Spiderman’s suit.

Sell Comics

Sell Comics

There are many movies based on comic book characters that have hit the big screen; some more successful than others. Dark Horse brought us StarWars and Buffy The Vampire Slayer; Marvel: DareDevil, Hulk, X-men and Spiderman; and DC Comics: Superman, Batman, and CatWoman.

English business magnate Sir Richard Branson thought that he should be part of the comic book business so, in 2006 he decided to add one more industry to Virgin Group: Virgin Comics. Sadly, it was short lived.

Virgin Comics published stories

- Based on Indian mythology;

- From directors John Woo (Mission Impossible 2, Paycheck), Guy Ritchie (Revolver, RocknRolla), Edward Burns (The Groomsmen, Purple Violets), Jonathan Mostow (Breakdown, Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines) and Shekhar Kapur (Elisabeth: The Golden Age, New York, I Love You) which would have been difficult and/or expensive to produce as movies;

- With characters resembling real famous people such as Nicolas Cage, Hugh Jackman and Jenna Jameson;

With the intention to sell movie rights.

They announced in April 2008 that Stan Lee (former president and chairman of Marvel Comics, co-creator of X-Men, Fantastic Four and Spiderman to name a few) would create whole new superheroes for Virgin Comics. They never said what the story would be about; only that it will be around 10 superheroes from different backgrounds and origins. It was due to be released on January 2009.

You’d think with so many big names at its side that Virgin Comics would have taken the comic world and movie industry by storm. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the case.

Virgin Comics didn’t manage to attract enough readers and wasn’t selling. Some say that it just didn’t appeal to a Western audience. On August 26th, Virgin Comics’ New York office was closed to relocate in Los Angeles. On September 24th 2008, Virgin Group pulled out its backing and the company changed its name to Liquid Comics.

It’s still unclear which way Liquid Comics intends to go and which projects it will pursue.

Only the future will tell.
